Peering into London's potential futures
Drinking pricy pints in the dark while Oxford Street burns
In our last issue of 2022, we wrote an issue which looked back at some of the major themes that had popped up across the previous 12 months to see if they could tell us anything about how London might evolve during the next year.
We looked at pollution and the ULEZ, as well as the rental crisis, Oxford Street’s descent into hellzone status, the imminent arrival of the fabled £10 pint, and the potential for ‘emergency blackouts’ plunging the capital into perpetual darkness. Yay!
Today we’re checking in to see if any of those scenarios have inched any closer to reality, although we’re not going to try and tackle the ULEZ debate or we’ll be here all day, and we’re skipping the rental crisis because we covered that two days ago.
