The Marble Arch Mound is gone.

Ok, so it hasn’t actually gone yet, but it’s definitely going. After exceeding its budget by around £3 million, taking the job of the Conservative councillor who was in charge of the project, and becoming an international laughing stock, the Mound officially closed on Sunday.

It will take around four months to deconstruct the ill-advised incline and there’s no information yet on what will happen to the patch of land that it stood on. However, Westminster Council has promised that “any materials used to build the Mound are being recycled and reused wherever possible to provide a legacy.”

Yes, they actually used the word ‘legacy’.
